Peak 6, located in Breckenridge's special use permit boundary, is the first ski terrain expansion on U.S. Forest Service land in Colorado since 2008. The project took all environmental concerns into account. Such concerns were clearing trees, heavy equipment eroding the mountain and transportation needs for workers. They were quick to revegitate the top soil, used spider hoe's instead of typical excavators, and flew workers to the mountain top via helicopter. With the addition of Peak 6, Breckenridge will now have five huge Peaks, 2,901 acres, four terrain parks, 11 bowls, the highest chairlift in North America all watching over the awe inspiring family-friendly town.
